5 young UK players for Everton to target for the future
Harry Maguire
6ft 4 Sheffield United centre-back who is building up quite a reputation. Maguire has represented England under 21’s once and combines decent technique with old school defending. Maguire has played 25 times for the Blades in league one and scored 5 times. At only 20 he would be a good one for the future.
Ryan Gauld
Dubbed mini-Messi in Scotland, Dundee United’s Gauld has been looked at by all the major clubs in Europe. He recently signed a new contract, so wouldn’t be cheap – but is certainly an exciting talent and would certainly make an impact at Everton over a number of seasons. Gauld is only 18, but is building up a massive reputation.
Danny Ings
Ings has been the surprise package of the championship this season after not playing too much last season. The 21 year old is currently being linked with a move to West Brom has scored 21 goals in 31 games in all competitions and is building up quite a reputation.
Max Clayton
The 19 year old Crewe Alexandra striker is making waves for the England youth set ups and he has scored 9 goals in 32 starts for Crewe in all competitions. Clayton is currently out injured with a fractured ankle and is out of contract at the end of the season
Sam Byram
The young Leeds United defender has really struggled with injuries this year after coming to the fore last season. He built up quite a name for himself and was linked to Everton last season. Comfortable on the ball and part of the new breed of defenders, the 20 year old would fit the John Stones mould.
