    Martinez doesn’t know if Kone wants ACON place

    Everton Roberto Martinez has claimed that Arouna Kone became a new player on Thursday night at the striker made his long awaited return to first team action and says that there is a possibility that he could play his way into contention for the African Cup of Nations in January.

    Kone played 90 minutes in the game against FC Krasnodar in the Europa League on Thursday, but Martinez doesn’t know if Kone actually wants to play at the ACON yet.

    Martinez said: “Arouna became a new player on Thursday night. He is ready to fight for his place and I’m sure his national team will also start looking at him.

    “I haven’t spoken to Arouna so I don’t know what the situation is.”
