    Ajax come knocking for Everton man – talks opened

    Ajax have joined the race for Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu and have opened talks for the Spaniard according to John Cross in the Mirror.

    AC Milan had been trying to thrash out a deal but could only offer a loan move without paying a fee, an offer which Everton politely refused.

    Middlesbrough are also interested in signing the winger but may not be able to offer the package desired and now Ajax have jumped to the front of the queue.

    Deulofeu will be allowed to leave Everton this January after falling out of favour with the club.
