Andy Gray: Everton’s title ambitions are very realistic
Former Everton striker Andy Gray firmly believes that Everton have a chance of the title and says that Romelu Lukaku is right not to dismiss the blues. Gray was part of the successful Everton team that won the league title, FA Cup and European Cup Winners Cup.
Gray was speaking to the Alan Brazil breakfast show on TalkSport and he feels that Everton should be taken seriously.
He said: “They [their title chances] are very realistic at the moment.
“My one worry for the rest of the league is Man City find their away form because, if they do find consistency away from home, they might blow everyone away but right now, from what I have seen 19 games in, Everton have got every right [to be considered title challengers].
“I am glad people are mentioning it. I like that Lukaku is saying ‘why not?’
“It is one of those strange years where five or six, maybe even seven teams in the Premier League will think halfway through the season ‘do you know what, if we get lucky, a couple of things go our way, we get a right decision here and there, we might just have a chance.’
“This might be a surprising year when one of the really big boys don’t win it.”
