The latest rumours which hit the papers last week was Manchester City’s laughable offer of 25 million for Ross Barkley as well as an apparent interest from Spurs for John Stones. These rumours according to the Mirror and The Sun – papers to just remind you sold Coleman and Baines to Arsenal and United.
To tempt Everton the papers chucked in Rodwell with the transfer which would supposedly make the toffees want to sell one of their biggest stars since Rooney. Don’t Forget Rodwell was tipped to be the next big English star but since moving to City in 2012 his career has nose-dived due to injuries and rarely making the first team.
Although a move back to Goodison for Rodwell will be a good signing under Martinez, there is no chance we are losing Ross because of it. And 25 Mill? Rodwell is worth at most 8 and Ross is worth at least 30 million.
Why exactly would Ross want to go from first team football under one of the best young managers, whose style of play has brought out the best in the youngster to being a regular bench warmer under enormous pressure and competition to even make the starting eleven?
There’s no question about it that Barkley and Stones are the two next biggest English stars, with Martinez saying that he can’t wait to start working with these pair again it makes me think that they are not going anywhere just yet.
Both putting pen to paper and following in the managers steps by signing new contracts would most definitely put an end to all the rumours.
