Browning: The lads said I ruined Duncs day
Everton youngster Tyias Browning has said the rest of the squad have been winding him up saying that he has ruined Duncan Fergusons testimonial by scoring his goal as he took it right off the big mans head.
Browning says that scoring the goal at the Gwladys end was special and it was cracking to score his first goal for the club and he hopes this will give him confidence going into the season.
“It was one to remember, I think I took it right of Dunc’s head though. I’ve been getting a bit of stick for it but it was worth it.”
“They’ve been telling me I ruined his day but if I knew he was behind me, I would have run away!
“It was good to score, it’s always nice to get a goal. I feel like I’ve had a good pre-season and to score is a confidence booster for me.
“It was special [to score at the Gwladys Street], hopefully I can do it again when the season starts.”
Browning was introduced as a 72nd-minute substitute for John Stones at Goodison Park – and says he hopes his efforts in pre-season have left a lasting impression on Martinez’s thoughts for the coming campaign.
“The gaffer didn’t say too much to me before I went on, but you’ve always got to be prepared as a substitute,” added Browning. “Fortunately, I got the chance and I took it.
“I feel like I’m ready to step up when needed. I’ve been aspiring to get into the first team more and hopefully it will come this season.”
Have you been impressed with Browning when he has been called upon?
