    Carrick impressed with Ross Barkley

    Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says he has been impressed by Ross Barkley and Andros Townsend during England training.

    Everton midfielder Barkley and Tottenham youngster Townsend both received their first call-ups for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine, and Carrick says both players have caught his eye.

    He said: “It’s terrific for them to be involved. They’ve both had a great start to the season and have really impressed in training already.

    “They look big talents. I’m sure they’re excited to be here and looking to improve and progress, and be part of it more in the future as well.”
