The final game of the Premier League season looms and it is a day of departure as Chelsea Interim manager Rafa Benitez is in charge of his last home game at Stamford Bridge. It is also the very last game of David Moyes’ 11 year tenure at Everton. Chelsea desperately need a win in order to not miss out on a Champions League spot or be forced into a 3rd place play-off with Arsenal if certain results occur.
Team News
In Moyes’ last pre-match press conference at Finch Farm, he stated that Phil Neville and Leon Osman will not play a part in the 90 minutes.
In Benitez’s last pre-match press conference at Cobham, he said that John Terry, Eden Hazard and Ryan Bertrand will continue to miss out through injury. The Spaniard did say that Demba Ba would be back in contention though.
Threats
Frank Lampard as we all know has a great goalscoring record against Everton. After his two earlier in the season to win the only game that the Blues have lost at home all season, he has gone on to become Chelsea’s top record goalscorer and earnt himself a one year contract extension. Fatty will be sure to try and end the season on an exta high by scoring his usual goal against Sunday’s away side.
Demba Ba has a very good record against Everton too. The Senegalese striker scored a few different times for Newcastle against Everton and will want to continue that on the final day of the season.
