This evening the former footballer, now turned journalist/radio host, took the time to discuss the Everton boardroom issues. Collymore spoke to a source within the club and asked a series of questions which were, in his honest opinion, answered with proper sincerity.
Here is a round up of what was said:
1. Is Everton for sale?
A: Yes. Prospectuses of the club are still being distributed to business men and groups all over the world.
2. What is the asking price?
A: After a long discussion with the source it was finally revealed that the price is near £125 million.
3. Are there interested parties, and who are they?
A: The rumoured interest from the Jain Group in 2011 was real but broke down for an unspecified reason. There is current interest from a middle-eastern party but the discussions are not at an advanced stage.
4. Why no sale to date?
A: The ground has been a major issue to any prospective buyers as there is not room for major redevelopment.
5. Do Everton FC want to move?
A: Yes. The club are still actively looking at possible areas in the city and are still in constant discussions with the council.
6. Do Everton want to ground share?
A: Very much so. Everton and Liverpool council believe it would be an extremely sensible idea for a groundshare. Neither club can afford it’s own ground and the two clubs should come together. Liverpool FC are not open to the idea and therefore will not open discussions.
7. Will Everton stay in the City of Liverpool?
A: Yes.
8. What time frame do Everton feel confident about being at a new stadium?
A: When pushed for an answer of time-scales by Collymore, the Everton source said that a season ticket holder could be in a new seat in the next 5-10 years.
9.What is Bill Kenwright currently feeling?
A: Despondent.
10. Why don’t Everton have an AGM?
A: The club prefer an ASF (Shareholder Forum) instead of an AGM because the AGM was targeted by political groups where the AGM’s became heated and unprofessional.
11. What is the latest on David Moyes contract situation?
A: No further advances. Mr. Kenwright feels everyone should let David Moyes make his decision in his own time. Kenwright is desperate for Moyes to sign.
