Deulofeu happy with assist
Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu is happy that he provided an assist for Romelu Lukaku, but disappointed to not be in the hat for the next round of the FA Cup after losing 1-2 against Leicester City at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The Spaniard has found himself on the peripheral of the team again this season but came off the bench to help Everton take the lead before conceding 2 Ahmed Musa goals to lose the tie.
“I had a chance to play minutes and this is what I want,” said the former Barcelona attacker. “When I got on the pitch, I took my chance but it’s disappointing because we didn’t win. I don’t go home happy.
“I’m happy [for the assist] because I need to contribute more goals and assists, but the most important thing is winning the game.”
“We scored against Leicester who made it difficult, but after that we lost balls and dropped back a little bit,” added Deulofeu. “This isn’t the way and we needed to attack. We need to improve, train better and now Man City is a big game.
“We need to leave today in the past.”
