Everton and Arsenal interested in French striker Paul-Georges Ntep
Everton have sent scouts to France to watch Cameroonian born striker Paul-Georges Ntep according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The pacey 21 year old, who has represented France from Under 18 through to under 21 year old level currently plays in ligue 2 for AJ Auxerre. Ntep also known as Ntep de Madiba has scored 3 goals in 8 games this season and 9 goals in 19 games last season.
Arsene Wenger has also shown an interest in the striker for Arsenal and described him as a “Future great”.
Wenger said: ‘Paul George Ntep has the potential to have a great future,’ he said.
‘It all depends on his mind, but he is a great prospect.’
An £8.5m fee would be the likely cost to get the striker and Roma, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked in the past.
The player himself was asked about a move to North London “Arsenal is a club that trusts young players. But it would all depend on the project,” he told L’Equipe.
“If it is going to a new club to remain on the bench, what is the improvement? I don’t ask to be in the starting 11 of a big club immediately, but I could help in the not too long-term.
“If I have reached such a level now, it is because Auxerre offered me stability that allowed me to reach new levels.
“I don’t forget. Nowadays you can be a much-demanded player and tomorrow the player everyone will laugh about.”
