Everton and Manchester United to go head to head for “Next Big Thing”
Everton and Manchester United are interested in signing Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld, who is being called mini-Messi according to various British newspapers including the Daily Mail
17 year old Gauld, who plays as an attacking midfielder has broken into the Dundee United first team over the last couple of seasons and put in a man of the match performance against Partick Thistle at the weekend providing 4 assists.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid are also being linked to the youngster, but Everton and Manchester United look to be head the list. Everton have also been linked with another Dundee United youngster, John Souttar, who has also broken into the first team. Souttar has been linked to the Toffee’s for a few months and Everton would like to broker a deal for both players.
“Dundee United are not only playing winning football, they are playing some wonderful, attacking stuff, and in Ryan Gauld they have the finest young prospect in Scotland, maybe even Europe – yes, he’s that good.” Said Scotland on Sunday journalist Martin Hannan
Gauld is being touted at around the £6m mark.
