    Everton to battle Southampton for Dutch defender

    Everton are set to battle Southampton with a move for Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt from Serie A side Lazio according to the Daily Mail.

    The 23 year older defender is being linked with a move to the South Coast club as a replacement for Virgil Van Dijk, but Everton could be set to jump in.

    The blues are looking for cover for Ramiro Funes Mori, who is out for 6-9 months with a knee injury and could be set to move for the Dutch defender who would be available for around £12m.

    The Holland international is also being linked with a move to Leicester City moved to Lazio in 2015 and has made 48 appearances for the club, scoring twice.
