    Everton enquire about French under 21 international Gueida Fofana

    Everton have enquired about Lyons French under 21 international Gueida Fofana according to the Daily Mail.

    Roberto Martinez is thought to be interested in the midfielders versatility as he can play a number of positions across the midfield including defensive midfield and as a normal central midfielder.

    Fofana has played 18 times for Lyon this season and has attracted interest from Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Stuttgart.

    The 6 ft Frenchman is a natural leader and has captained France at all levels except the full French team, he has been with Lyon since 2011 and has yet to represent the full French team.

    Fofana would be seen as a replacement for Darron Gibson this season, who is out for the full term.  It is not known if Evertons interest is with a view to a loan or a permanent transfer.
