The Daily Mail are reporting that Everton have held initial discussions over a potential deal for Chelsea striker Demba Ba.
Roberto Martinez initially tried to sign Ba last season before he was offered a loan deal for Romelu Lukaku.
Everton have asked to take the Belgium international again but are waiting to see what happens on the proposed deal for him involving Atletico Madrid and also until Lukaku has finished his rest from the World Cup.
While a deal has been in place since early talks between the clubs on Diego Costa, Atletico manager Diego Simeone is not totally convinced on Lukaku and believed to want Alvaro Negredo from Manchester City or Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.
Everton will stay in the hunt for Lukaku but have asked about taking 29-year-old Ba also. Ba made infrequent appearances for Chelsea last season but always made an impact when he came on especially in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Everton have also enquired about Adama Traore at Barcelona. Everton are in a strong position after the success of Gerard Deulofeu’s loan last year. Traore is an exciting prospect and its reported that up to 20 clubs from around the club have asked to avail of his services.
