    Everton linked to highly rated £40m defender

    Everton could be set for a winter move on Sporting Lisbons highly rated defender Ruben Semedo according to CalcioMercato.

    The 22 year old Portugal under 21 star has a £40m release clause in his contract which runs until 2022.

    Semedo is seen as a future star within the game and is at home in a central defensive position although he can also play at defensive midfield.

    Everton manager Ronald Koeman would like to add some youth cover to his defensive duo of Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams and Semedo is seen as one that would add competition.
