Everton manager Roberto Martinez is joining the £12million race to land Celtic star man Victor Wanyama, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People .
Martinez is keen on the powerful Kenyan, and the 22-year-old is interested in the Toffees. Wanyama has been at the centre of a transfer wrangle with Southampton for the past month, with a price agreed but a dispute about an agent’s cut stopping the deal.
Now Wanyama is hoping Martinez backs up his interest with a firm bid, although the new Toffees chief may have to sell players first.
The Goodison boss has also raided his old club Wigan for £5m Arouna Kone and defender Antolin Alcaraz on a free.
The Latics are making an £800,000 bid for Utrecht striker Jacob Mulenga to replace Kone.
