Everton have stolen the march on city rivals Liverpool for Verona starlet Jorginho according to Italian outlet EuropaCalcio.it
Reports surfaced this week that Brenda Rodgers had launched a €9m bid this week but it is now reported that Everton are pushing ahead to sign the Brazilian from under their noses.
Jorginho was a key player for the Gialloblu last term, making 41 appearances and scoring two goals to guide them to second place and promotion from Serie B.
The young winger was born in Brazil but has spent his whole career in Italy, having started at minnows AC Sambonifacese in 2010, before joining Verona last year.
Jorginho decided to represent the Azzurri at international level and currently has one cap for the Under-21 side.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was said to be tracking Jorginho during the January transfer window, after a recommendation from Italy-based scout Tony Banfield.
Meanwhile, it has been reported more recently that Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and AC Milan are all monitoring his progress.
