Memorable end beckons – by @Marktheblue
What a contrast in emotions i have felt this week, ill admit i am prone to knee jerking with my reactions, i genuinely thought our champions league hopes had perished in that dreadful night at Anfield
But 3 points and a inch perfect suicidal pass from Kolo Toure and things are back in perspective,we have a glorious chance to round off our superb season with a richly deserved 4th place finish.
We have key players returning at just the right time, given we have only lost 3 games all season, coping with more than our fair share of injuries, the last 14 games hold huge promise
The return of Seamus Coleman with Gerard Deulofeu has got the mouth watering,Combined with the emergence of Kevin Mirallas in an almost talismanic role with Traore eager to make an impression and i don’t see much in the way of us finishing fourth.
We can only beat ourselves, few teams have got the better of us this season and we have to believe in our quality more than ever
Tottenham presents a strong challenge on Sunday, they have improved a lot under the abrasive Tim Sherwood and we will need to be right at it, Spurs will be concerned about us,given the results and performances we’ve had at Old Trafford and the Emirates,Spurs should hold no fear despite there recent good run.
The Anfield defeat will benefit us,no way Roberto will make the same mistakes again plus he will have a much stronger side out in terms of match fitness and key players returning.
With Liverpool entertaining Arsenal, who will have been buoyed by Chelsea’s win at Man City, there is the potential for Brenda’s men to drop points.
The scenario of going into the Crystal palace match at home above Liverpool is a huge incentive for us to really go at Spurs,we have the players to put them to the sword,a chance for us to seize the initiative and send out a message that we are going nowhere in the quest for champions league football
After deadline day there was a small element of doom and gloom around,i was frustrated at the time that we didn’t strengthen in the middle of the park, but having had chance to look back, admittedly our seasons hope rest on everyone remaining fit ,i can understand why Martinez did not strengthen,we can only hope the board have that money ready in the summer
Roberto shown against Aston Villa that his in-game management is one of the best around,we had a slow start aside from Mcgeady’s fine left foot curling strike which struck the post, our first half frustration rounded off with Villa taking an undeserved lead through Bacuna
Martinez bringing on Pienaar for Barkley showed he wasn’t prepared to let our performance drift any further,Ross still working his way back to full fitness is yet another reason why we should approach the remaining games with huge expectation
Pienaar who had a torrid game at Anfield looked back to his best, his link up play with Baines a sight for sore eyes and with Barry imperious in the middle,we had the platform to go at Villa, the quality of our goals was indicative of the football we have played this season
More impressive was the patience and faith in the system the players shown,no hoof ball tactics,no panic,we waited for the right moment and struck with a confident finish from the impressive Naismith following a gem of a flick from Pienaar,Naismith’s clever running off the ball a feature of the goal also
Evertons impressive second half was rewarded with a winner straight out of the top drawer,Kevin Mirallas continuing his remarkable renaissance with an inch perfect free kick that was simply made for the Gwladys street, curling away devilishly from the sprawling Brad Guzan to send the fans into ecstacy.
Cue multiple bruises and unexplained back pain the next day,it was worth it.
It was everything the blues deserved and it was great to be in the Gwladys street as the crowd really got behind the team and sensed we could win, helped by the tempo set by the team in the second half.Old Skool Gwladys should never go away
The crowd has to replicate that second half noise and let the passion come out, were all wanting that champions league place,we have to pull out all the stops to get there, make Goodison a passion filled cauldron with noise bouncing out of every stand, like the atmosphere in 05 as Man Utd were blown away on a tidal wave of crowd emotion. How bad do we want this?
We should be excited that we have Arsenal,Man Utd and City in consecutive home matches,we will have all guns blazing by then, the perfect time to face our rivals and show the ginger one just what he held us back from.
Im only speaking for myself and i do react badly when we lose, like everyone i know, Saturday has given me a renewed sense of destiny about this season. Top 4 finish and winning the Fa Cup will be the tip of the iceberg for us under the ever impressive Roberto Martinez,a manager taking us right to the top
We are on the front foot at the right time of the season, everything seems to coming together for us just at the right moment,Time to show the media that there embarrassing full on agenda to belittle us,barely even acknowledge us has not worked.
Starting at Spurs, The road to the promised land starts here. The famous tower was illuminated last night, lets hope our famous club will shine on the champions league next season, where it belongs
Sin Miedo

If you aim for a top 4 finish and narrowly fail, you end up in the plastic Europa Cup,which generally flattens the next season. If you aim for the top and narrowly fail,it’s CL football isn’t it? Until it is absolutely mathematically impossible for us to be champions I’m not conceding defeat. All the other top teams have a difficult run in and could easily drop points and most of them play each other.
