Watford have opened talks over their interest in former German international Thomas Hitzlsperger, according to Mail Online.
Hornets manager Gianfranco Zola is keen to bolster his promotion-chasing squad before tomorrow’s emergency loan deadline. Watford already have 11 players on loan, much to the irritation of the Football League and rival managers.
Hitzlsperger, 30, joined the Toffees in October after being released by Wolfsburg – and has made nine appearances for David Moyes’ side since his arrival. The central midfielder, nicknamed ‘Der Hammer’, has been used sparingly this season but has been ahead of youngster Ross Barkley in the pecking order, but now the Everton gaffer may be ready to trust the 19 year old midfield prospect if needed.
