Everton set to seal underwhelming first transfer of the summer
Everton are set to seal their first transfer signing of the summer as they look set to offer a contract to out of contract Southampton right back Cuco Martina.
British press are reporting that a move for the out of contract defender is close and the 27 year old will move to Goodison Park on a free transfer when his contract expires shortly.
The Curacao international is seen as cover for injured Republic of Ireland international Seamus Coleman, who is out for the rest of this year with a broken leg.

Yes i would prefer to see Jonjoe used as cover for Seamus…I’d also like to see Mason Holgate start in the centre of defence ahead of Jags / Williams and Ramiro Funes Mori….
Clearly though the Boss knows something more about Cuco Martina than we do so will have to wait and see….I would however like us to address the more pressing priorities of a near complete overhaul of our forward seven. With speculation over Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku rife, some indifferent performance from Romelu Lukaku and so much mileage in the legs of Gareth Barry in concerned.
This transfer window is not going to be simple with or without the Farhad Moshiri cash!
Dont expect too many household names….this i feel is only the start of a very long and painstaking rebuild.
