    Everton set to raid rivals to land long term target

    Everton are set to make a £30m bid for Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles as he becomes their number 1 target according to the UK press.

    The 24 year old enjoyed a fine season for the magpies and their captain enjoys a good working relationship with Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez.

    According to reports though, Marco Silva is desperate to make Lascelles an Everton player and he is the clubs number 1 target as he looks to shore up a leaky defence.

    Silva will look to add youth and quality to the Everton backline with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams approaching the end of their careers and Ramiro Funes Mori likely to leave the club this summer.
