Everton set to reward Ross Barkley to fend off Chelsea and Manchester United
Everton are set to offer star player Ross Barkley a bumper new contract to ward off interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City according to the Daily Star
Everton boss, Roberto Martinez revealed that the club aims to tie the youngster to a new long term contract, but stressed that nothing is in place yet. Barclay turned 20 this week and it set to receive a bumper new pay deal.
He said “You can imagine we are working always behind the scenes to try to reward youngsters who do well at the club and Ross is clearly that, but there is nothing to announce.
“Even when you don’t speak about issues we work really hard behind the scenes to try to make sure that the youngsters get rewarded and Ross clearly deserves that.
Martinez went on to praise a man at the other end of the scale to the Everton youngster. Sylvain Distin turned 36 this week, but Martinez has been hugely impressed with the man mountain this season, he commented:
“Sylvain has been a terrific performer this season and we couldn’t be happier with his role at the club.
“All these issues are vital for us and we are going to look after them straight after this Christmas period.
“At this moment all that matters is to get everyone focused in being ready to help the team and Sylvain clearly has been an example of doing that.”
