Everton sign exciting young Irish winger Steven Kinsella
Everton have increased the growing Irish contingent at Goodison Park with the signing of 15 year old Irish winger Steven Kinsella to their academy.
The young winger chose Everton over Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur after a personal visit from Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
Everton’s Irish Scout Paul Hamilton was delighted with the deal, he said: “We’ve been working for two years to get Steven over the line, so everybody at the club is naturally delighted,”
Kinsella has already represented the Republic of Ireland at under 17 level and joins Aiden McGeady, Darron Gibson, Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Shane Duffy in swelling the Irish ranks at Everton.
Kinsella had been playing for local club Templeogue United under his dad Alan who used to play for Bohemians and Everton fans will be hoping he can progress like fellow countryman Coleman who is now rated at £15m after a £67k move from Sligo Rovers.
Is this a coup for Everton and should we look more towards Ireland for talented prospects? Have your say at www.theevertonforum.com
