    Everton sign Viera following trials

    Everton are in the process of signing 19 year old Kenyan midfielder Jacob Omutanyi who has the nickname Viera.

    The midfielder has undergone a series of trials with the club and has now settled into life on Merseyside.

    It could have been a different proposition for the Kenyan though as he was subject to an attack last year which could have proved much worse.

    “I was exposed to an electric shock by unknown people in June 2014 at my house in Umoja, an incident that I believe was perpetuated by people who were not happy with my football progress,” said Omutanyi.

    “It was quite a setback but thank God I have managed to come through it. It is the worst that happened in my life but I am happy I am now in a position to forget all that and concentrate on what I love doing most, playing football,” added Omutanyi.

    He also had trials with other English Premier League sides but finally settled on Merseyside and will continue training with the clubs academy.
