The biggest statement Moshiri could make is new contracts for Lukaku and Barkley

Since Farhad Moshiri became the clubs major investor last February, Everton fans have been patiently waiting for a big act from the British-Iranian businessman – A statement if you will.

That isn’t to say that Moshiri hasn’t done anything big so far, he recently gave the club an interest free loan to help clear long term debt that hindered the club.  Moshiri actually lent the club £80m interest free – Which is obviously a big act, but it is on the pitch where most fans are keen to see a statement made.

Moshiri has aims of taking the blues back to the big time and Evertonians on the whole are bought into him being the ideal owner.  Hints that the club will get a new stadium on Bramley Moore docks, some improved commercial deals and a facelift at Goodison Park have gone a long way to moving forward a sleeping giant and with improved fortunes on the playing field you can see some shoots over recovery coming out of our great club.

Some fans may think I’m mental as big signings seem to be the way most people want us to go – BUT I firmly believe that the biggest statement that Farhad Moshiri can give to the long suffering Evertonians would be new contracts for Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku.

People will argue that contracts aren’t worth the paper they are written on, but their signings alone would prove that the moneymen that handle these two excellent young players believe that Everton will be coming back to the big time.

Lukaku has always been a goalscorer and his 76 goals in English football have back that up, despite still only being 23 years old.  The 6ft 3 brute has improved his overall game in recent months and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football.

Back over Christmas his agent Mino Raiola said that the contract was nearly sorted, but over a month later there is still no update.

“With Everton, we have 99.9 per cent reached terms,” Raiola told talkSPORT. “We are talking to the club in a good spirit so we are very hopeful. There are no problems on the way that I foresee.

“I don’t see any big problems. It is a question of putting the details on the paper.”

Local lad Barkley is also starting to live up to his early reputation, the stats have always been there and the odd good game is always been in his locker, but over the last 2 months Barkley has added workrate and class to his performances and is proving that he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League along the way.

These 2 talents are world class and to get them signed to new contracts would not only send a statement to other potential new signings, but it would also send out a statement to other teams in the Premier League that the good times are coming back at Everton.
