Everton boss David Moyes is ready to move for Denmark striker Andreas Cornelius – IF he stays at Goodison, writes the Sunday People.
Moyes sent his top spy to watch the 6ft4in target man last weekend as he looks for a new forward, the missing link in his squad who are chasing European football.
The Toffees boss is also keen on PSV Eindhoven’s highly-rated midfielder Kevin Strootmanwho is being tracked by Manchester United and Liverpool.
But it is the signing of Cornelius that will be a priority if Moyes remains on Merseyside.
The 20-year-old No.9 has been a huge star for his club FC Copenhagen and has made his debut for the senior Denmark side. Cornelius looks perfect for the Premier League with his size and scoring ability and his fee will inevitably soar if he maintains his remarkable start for club and country.
The Toffees would have to pay around £5million which could be a shrewd move if his promise is fulfilled – but finding cash for signings is one of the main issues that will decide Moyes’ future.
Everton would need to find around £10m for Strootman who can play in central midfield, as a holding midfield or as a deep lying playmaker.
Moyes will speak to owner Bill Kenwright about his plans after the end of the season and the size of his budget will be a key factor in the biggest call of his career.
