    Everton target hands in transfer request – Deal close?

    Everton target Lamine Kone has handed in a transfer request in a bid to leave Sunderland.

    The 27 year old Frenchman only joined the club in January following an on-off transfer saga with French club Lorient.

    Kone has blamed a lack of a new contract that he was promised at the end of last season on his decision to hand in the request, which is likely to anger Sunderland fans who rate Kone as one of their best players.

    Kone took to social media to explain.

    Kone will have needed to have signed by midday Friday to be able to play for any new club at the weekend.
