Everton to award Coleman and Barkley new contracts
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has once again confirmed that the club will award new contracts to Ross Barkley and Seamus Coleman. Having signed off new contracts to Leighton Baines and Sylvain Distin in the last week, the blues gaffer has confirmed that he wants the players new contracts to reflect the strides that they are making on the pitch.
Coleman is enjoying a fine run this season scoring 6 goals from a right-back position although he is currently injured and 20 year old Barkley has become a mainstay of the first team after being given a chance under Martinez.
He said: “Seamus is in a completely different situation [than Distin] because his contract is not running out. It’s the same with Ross Barkley.
“But some of the youngsters at the Club have this season gone up to the next level and, contractually, that should be reflected.
“That’s what we are going to do. We are going to reward the players who are developing and doing well.”
