    Everton to join £10m defender race

    Everton are set to join Southampton in the transfer chase for Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk according to the British Media including the Daily Mirror.

    Southampton have already tabled an £8m offer and Everton are set to join the race to try and shore up a leaky defence.

    The toffees only have John Stones and Phil Jagielka as experienced centre-backs and are looking at Van Dijk and South American centre-back Mori.

    The 24 year old is in hot demand in the Premier League but the report states that Everton may only join the race if John Stones is sold.
