Everton are looking to rival Newcastle to the signature of Amido Balde from Vitoria Guimaraes according to CalcioMercato.
Everton are looking to steal the march on Newcastle to sign the highly rated Portuguese striker.
The Magpies have had representatives at nearly every one of Balde’s matches in the Portuguese Premier League this season, and Alan Pardew has now given the go-ahead to try to do business.
It is thought that Everton are ready to offer up to £5million to try to sign the 21-year-old, who also has interest from Tottenham and Newcastle and was offered a trial at Celtic earlier this year.
Balde is seen as one of the best players in Portugal at present, having developed his game since joining Guimaraes in the summer following several years spent on loan in Belgium and Spain whilst on the books of Sporting Lisbon.
The 6ft 4in striker has scored five goals in 18 matches this season, but has also laid on a host more with his selfless approach to the game catching the eye.
According to reports in Spain, Sevilla recently asked Guimaraes to name their price for the hitman.
