Everton Under-18s are preparing for the semi-finals of the Gothia Cup in Sweden on Friday evening.
A last eight meeting with IF Elfsborg took place on Thursday, but it required penalties to separate the two sides.
Courtney Duffus’ third goal of the tournament cancelled out the Swedes’ early opener. The young forward then scored the Blues’ opening spot-kick in the shootout, with Gethin Jones, Curtis Langton and Antonee Robinson just as clinical from 12 yards to claim the spoils.
The tournament began on Monday, with the Blues drawing 1-1 with Gefle as Harry Charsley got on the scoresheet.
A Duffus strike then sealed a 1-0 win over Varas Academy of Hungary on Tuesday.
A thumping 4-0 win over home town side IFK Gothenberg sealed top spot in Group 1, edging out fellow Swedes Gefle IF on goal difference. The convincing victory came courtesy of a brace from Charsley alongside headers from Duffus and Jonjoe Kenny.
