    New Everton boss Roberto Martinez is closing in on his first signing – a bargain raid on old club Wigan for Antolin Alcaraz according to the mirror

    Martinez hopes to tie up a contract with the free-agent centre-half by the end of the week.

    Paraguay international Alcaraz had an injury-hit time at Latics, but Martinez knows his value and the fact he can join the Toffees for nothing makes him too good to miss.

    The planned deal will see Alcaraz pick up a two-year contract at Goodison and give Martinez competition at the back.

    Alcaraz likes to play out from defence and may be a key cog of the new style that Martinez plans to bring to the Toffees.

    1. No no no Roberto needs a big signing first , someone who will have blues exited not shaking their heads , he is a championship player at his best , we deserve better . I will be disappointed if this is our first signing, especially after he was banned for 3games for spitting, leave that behaviour to the dark side . He needs to win over the fans and a signing like this will not do that
