As a Barça maniac supporter I register in this your sacred forum to keep on the evolution of the Goodison´s newcome Gerard Deulofeu.
Gerard has been playing for Barça youth squads since he was 9 years old, and always have been considered as a very special talent, those players that are marked in red.
Every coach has had special attention to develop all his potential.
In my opinion, as a devoted fan of Barça youth talents for many years, he is the most pure talented player La Masía has produced since Ivan de la Peña and Lionel Messi.
I´m not comparing him to Messi as that won´t be true or realistic, what I mean is he is that kind of player that can change a game on his own, has got that spark to make you stand up your chair or leave you with your mouth wide open.
As you may guess, many culers (Barça supporters) have been waiting some years for Deulofeu to become a first team player so many of us will be watching Everton games from now on.
Now, after this introduction, I will give you my input of the player:
Best position: mainly LW, can play at CAM or RW aswell. He is right footed and usually cuts in. If he plays at RW he will cross really good but can´t offer his 100%.
Best skills:
– Acceleration and sprint speed combined with incredible ball control, that´s the best he can offer. Because of that his dribbling is very succesfull.
– His right foot is incredible, brilliant at set pieces, his curve on the ball is very efficient and with great power. He can use his left foot aswell.
– Remarks to his finishing.
Needs improvements:
– Team gameplay, learn to give the best of him for the benefit of the team.
– Positioning.
– Sometimes does not choose the best option.
Other facts:
– Despite what it may seem, he is not arrogant (Cristiano Ronaldo style), he is quite a humble guy. Team mates all those years have loved him.
– His name means in Catalan, “God did/create him”. Deu (God) lo (to him) feu (did/create). That surname was given to orphan kids in the past.. as “Snow” in Games of Thrones 😛
I will keep an eye on this thread just in case someone wants to ask something I can be helpful with.
