    Heitinga set for Roma move?

    Johnny Heitinga is set for a move to Italian side Roma according to various Italian news outlets including ilmessaggero.it.

    The Dutchman has been at Everton since 2009 and has made 114 appearances for the club following a move from Atletico Madrid, but is out of contract in the summer.  Heitinga has been linked to fellow Italian club Fiorentina and also Turkish side Fenerbahce.

    Wages have always proved a stumbling block with potential transfers and with Heitinga earning excess of £65k per week moves away have always been hard.

    The centreback partnership of Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin has been the downfall for Heitinga and with the emergence of John Stones and the purchase of Antolin Alcaraz, the Oranje has seen his chances limited at Goodison Park and has only made one short appearance this season.
