Phil Jagielka admits he was frustrated not to see Everton make the breakthrough they deserved against West Brom on Saturday.
While the England centre-back was mostly quiet in keeping a clean sheet alongside Sylvain Distin, the Blues continuously probed the Baggies defence in search of an opener to no avail.
With Marouane Fellaini and Seamus Coleman both striking the woodwork late on, Jagielka feels three points were merited but insists progress is being made.
The captain said: “A frustrating afternoon. The second half was better and we created a few chances but it was one of those games.
“It would have been nice to grab a couple more points but it is a learning curve at the moment. We want to start winning games sooner rather than later.
“Felli’s chance hit the post and it was a little unfortunate.
“We are still pretty much the same team as last year but playing a slightly different way.
“Keeping a clean sheet is a bonus and we are making forward progress but we need to start winning games as soon as possible.”
