Jagielka: We know we let the fans down
Everton captain Phil Jagielka was in despondant mood about lastnights drubbing to rivals Liverpool and says he knows they let the fans down. Everton were routed 4-0 at Anfield and it could have been more if Daniel Sturridge had scored a penalty and Jags knows that they have to improve.
“It’s three points that we have missed out on today and we are disappointed to lose to our rivals in the manner that we did,” Jagielka told evertontv.
“The fans are the ones that deserve the credit and we know in the changing room that we let them down.
“We know the only way we can get back on track is by performing well at home against Villa when we can hopefully get them singing again by taking three points.”
Speaking of the loss, Jagielka says that individual errors didn’t help the team and they just came unstuck.
“We knew it was going to be a tough night but we didn’t help ourselves,” he added. “We conceded some poor goals from individual errors and if you play like that at Liverpool, who have got an attacking threat, you are going to come unstuck.
“We had a couple of decent shots but before we knew it was 2-0, then 3-0. They killed off the game pretty quickly and then there was an error from me for the fourth.”
