Jelavic: It’s been difficult at Everton
Nikica Jelavic was delighted with his goalscoring return and says the last few months have been hard. Jelavic has been dropped from the first eleven due to the emergence and form of Romelu Lukaku and the big Croatian has had to be patient for his chances. Jelavic may still leave Goodison Park, but he has given the manager something to think about and will wait to speak to the Spaniard to see if he will get any chances.
“It’s been difficult,” Jelavic told evertontv. “But Rom is on fire – I’m delighted for him if I’m being honest.
“I’m training hard and every day I have been waiting for my chance.
“Now the manager saw that he can count on me as well, so we will see.
“We will see in the end but I hope he is going to give me more chances.”
Jelavic enjoyed his chance and was delighted with his goals, he said:
“After a while I have played 90 minutes so I enjoyed every minute on the pitch. I was unlucky to score a hat-trick but I’m happy with two as well.
“The first one I just smashed it wide of the keeper and for the second one Bryan made a good cross and I was in the right place.
“I just thought I was going to chip it [the penalty] whatever happens. There was punishment in the end because I missed it.
“It’s not the only game. There are plenty more and I hope I can score a hat-trick in another game.”
