Keane believes the understanding on the pitch if growing
New Everton signing Michael Keane believes that the new team is coming together nicely and starting to form an understanding on the pitch.
Keane also believe he has settled into this massive club well since signing from Burnley and he has been happy with his performances in pre-season.
“It’s next week and it’s going to come around quick,” said the England man. “We haven’t had long to prepare like you do in most pre-seasons, so it feels a bit crammed in – but you’ve got to get everything out of it.
“You can’t play 90 minutes straight away – you have to work your way up slowly, but I think all the lads are looking good.”
Keane is likely to be paired with Ashley Williams at the heart of the Everton defence and the defender has been talking about their partnership.
“It’s going well. We play together in training and I’ve only been here a few weeks but it’s good and it’s only going to get stronger and stronger.
“The more we play together on the pitch, the more the understanding grows.
“I’m really enjoying being an Everton player. It’s a massive club and it’s great to be here.
“I feel like I’ve settled in nicely now, I feel comfortable around the lads and I just can’t wait for the (competitive) games to begin.”
Speaking about the friendly with FC Twente, Keane was happy.
“It was a good result and a good performance from the lads in both halves,” added Keane.
“Obviously, the most important thing is fitness and to come through it without any injuries – which we have done – but it’s always good to win as well.
“I love defending, first and foremost. It’s what I like to do. I’m happy that I got to show that a bit today.”
Has Keane impressed you so far?
