Koeman: It was very important to have Ferguson on the coaching team
Everton manager Ronald Koeman feels that it was vital to have big Duncan Ferguson as part of his technical team, especially with the big Scots affiliation with the club.
The former Everton player was given more influence with the first team following Roberto Martinez sacking and Koeman feels that his history with the club is vital for their success as a management team.
“I’m very pleased that Duncan Ferguson is the other member in our technical staff,” Koeman told evertontv.
“That’s good because I like to have somebody in the Club who is really an Evertonian man, with a big history in the Club with his goals.
“And he knows the Club, which I think it a very important reason to have him in.”
Koeman is also very happy to be working with his former colleagues at Southampton, especially his brother Erwin.
“I’m very pleased because we made the step to Southampton [together] and we promised to continue this for a long period,” added the Toffees boss.
“It’s very good news to have Erwin and, as my brother, I am full of confidence with him of course.
“And Jan, an important part of football is the physical part and we’ve known each other a long time now, so that’s very good.”
