Lack of transfers invites fume and pressure on Everton board
The fume and vitriol on social media at the moment from Evertonians is getting worse. The Cause? Lack of transfer activity and lack of spend despite record Premier League money coming into the club. Fans are waiting patiently for a glimmer of hope in the transfer window, especially after the Sky TV money landed at the start of August. Impatience is building and this normally transports itself to the ground making for a nervous Goodison Park.
To date the club has brought in two excellent purchases with the Free transfer signing of Tom Cleverley and the £4.2m signing of Gerard Deulofeu. One huge telling fact about the Everton transfer strategy is that Tom Cleverley was the first signing in 9 years to make his Everton debut on the first day of the Premier League season – As a club we do it wrong and leave it late.
Cleverley is Everton's first new signing to start and make club debut in opening PL game for 9 years, since Johnson/Howard v Watford, 2006.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that the club need 3 new signings to compete how he wants to, but how can we compete when we are getting beaten to signings by clubs that have traditionally not performed aswell as us. We have been beat to the signings of Ogbonna and Payet by West Ham United and we now look to be beaten to the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri by Stoke City. These are 2 clubs we should be beating to transfers and the club have to be held accountable.
At this stage in the window, only Everton and Arsenal have signed less than 2 players. The Gunners bought Petr Cech for £10m, doubling the total spend of Everton in these times of record Premier League money.
To enable the best start to a season the club should be bringing in the majority of transfers before the season has started and this has to be seen as a dereliction of duty by the Everton board and potentially Roberto Martinez – IF money has been there all along.
One thing the board and manager have done as they should is committing players to new contracts and they should be looking to improve the contract of John Stones next, which will surely only increase his value over the coming years.
The supporter fume is building and there is only one way to stop that. Reach in your pockets and buy some players. Most Evertonians don’t mind if they only spent £5m, aslong as there are plenty of signings and the signings are decent ones. Unfortunately due to the way our loans, mortgages and finances are worked out, we have to wait for the money before we can pay the money out.
There are 3 weeks left of the transfer window and the longer we wait, the harder the task will be. Get it sorted Bill and Bob – Support your manager.
Have Everton done the right thing in the transfer window this season or should we have more players in?

Its becoming a bit of a joke now! Roberto hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing! We’re losing out on players to teams like stoke dam city??? WHERE THE HELL IS OUR AMBITION? . PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol every year hahahaahaha! it’s kinda funny and sad.. You know us being complete mugs.
Everton send me asleep. Boring football, no conviction going forward.
Get rid of Martinez now and give the job to Big Dunc.
We will then have exciting football to watch once again at Goodison.
You have got to blame the owner and the board, the manager takes instructions from them, however looking at the first game the manager shows no ambition .
Sorry people another season of struggles.
