    Lukaku: Everton were the best club for me to develop

    Following his deadline day signing Romelu Lukaku has declared that Everton was the best club for him.

    Speaking from the Belgian training camp, Lukaku said: “I wanted a loan and Everton seemed the best choice”.  Lukaku found himself on the bench a lot and due to the arrival of Samuel Eto’o last week, he went on: “Last weekend I started thinking.  There were a few clubs interested, but there was certainly nothing concrete.  Yesterday evening Everton sent over a proposal to come and I immediately phoned my parents to discuss the situation.  Afterwards we completed the loan.”

    “For me progress remains the most important thing.  Im young, so I want to improve a few things in my game – Everton is a good club to continue my development”. Lukaku went on to praise Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as “The best coach I’ve had, he wants to make me better and does so with a heavy hand”.
