Romelu Lukaku has today revealed that there is a possibility to stay with Everton and that he is willing to talk to Goodison Park’s delegates.
In an interview with Dutch paper ‘Voelbalkrant’, the Belgian forward mainly talked about his world cup experiences, such as losing his first team place to Liverpool target Divock Origi and the challenge that Argentina posed in their quarter-final defeat.
The interview ended with the question over where Lukaku will be playing his football, and he replied “I have the opportunity to stay at Everton, it is a possibility and it is something we will have to talk about.”
This will boost many an Evertonian’s hopes that the Blues can retain the 16 league goals striker, with previous doubts due to the rival clubs reported being those of Atletico Madrid and Juventus. It is thought that in the recent deal struck up between Chelsea and Atletico, a fee of €30 million was agreed, equating to just under £24 million. However the deal fell apart as Atletico manager Diego Simeone.
Now Lukaku is returning to his family and friends for a well earned rest, and then both he and his interested parties can finally sort his future.
