Luke Garbutt looking for more first team opportunities
Everton defender Luke Garbutt was delighted to play infront of the Goodison Park crowd in the recent Europa League tie against Krasnodar and the youngster hopes for more first team opportunities in the coming weeks.
The youngster impressed in the 1-0 defeat and highlights the upcoming FA Cup game against West Ham as one of the next occasions to look to make an impact.
“Playing at Goodison Park was obviously a dream of mine, so to play against Krasnodar was great,” he told evertontv. “I thought the lads did well – we put a good shift in and were unfortunate to lose.
“To see the likes of Ryan Ledson and Kieran Dowell out there, and then Arouna Kone back and doing really well, it was great.
“It was a great opportunity the gaffer gave us and it was down to us to take it – and I felt we did that with our performances. We should take that as a positive because it’s going to be great for us all in the long run.”
He added: “I think you’ve always got bits to work on, but, overall, I thought my performances were good.
“There’s the FA Cup coming up and that’ll probably be another opportunity for some of the lads to make a claim for the first team.
“All we can do is work hard in training and I’m sure the manager will look at that and give us the opportunities accordingly.”
