John Lundstram delighted with his Yeovil start
Evertons on-loan starlet John Lundstram inspired Yeovil to victory over Blackpool lastnight and scored in a match which saw Blackpool have 3 players sent off in the last minute.
Lundstram joined fellow blue Shane Duffy at the South West club and will look to help the team to stay in the Sky Bet Championship.
Lundstram was delighted with his goal, a right footed shot into the corner of the Blackpool net, he said: “It was fantastic to score my first league goal. I just snatched at it really and thankfully it’s found the bottom corner.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better start – two wins, one assist and a goal. I couldn’t have dreamt of that, but the team winning is the most important thing.”
Of the red cards, Lundstram added: “I’ve never seen that before. Obviously I’m still learning, but for me it’s surprising and exciting to witness things like that.
“[The pace of the Championship] is very fast. It’s an even bigger step up than it was to go to League One so I’m enjoying it, thriving off it and really enjoying my football at the moment. I’m thankful for the opportunity.
He hopes to inspire the club to championship safety and believes the points they can achieve over the Christmas period could be vital.
“I know how significant it is to get points,” added Lundstram. “We need to push to get out of the relegation zone and that’s what we’re trying to do. Spirits are high and we’re getting confidence with each game and a win on Saturday will push us far. We’re all guns blazing.”
Everton fans will be keen to keep a close eye on Lundstram and Roberto Martinez is believed to be excited about how the young England under 19 player can perform over the next few year.
