    DAVID MOYES will make fresh bids for Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and Everton’s Leighton Baines in January – after a summer transfer window that ended in farce according to the Express

    Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has been criticised by fans for the club’s bumbling transfer activity, after he returned home early from the club’s pre-season tour to “conduct urgent transfer business”.

    And Moyes will try and make things right in the January transfer market by returning to Goodison Park again for Baines with an expected £15m bid.

    United have not ruled out a fresh offer for Herrera in the New Year either, despite their initial move for the 24-year-old ending in bizarre circumstances.

    The deal for Herrera was foiled due to tax problems, with “impostors” even arriving at La Liga offices under the pretence of representing the English champions.

    Of Herrera, Moyes said yesterday: “I really liked the player and still do. We were trying to do a deal but I just thought the buy-out figure was the wrong valuation.”
