Martinez blasts dangerous challenge
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has blasted Valon Behrami for what he described as a dangerous challenge on winger Kevin Mirallas in the opening Premier League game against Watford.
Mirallas writhed in agony after being caught by Behrami and Martinez feels the winger was very lucky to escape without a major injury.
The Swiss midfielder remained on the pitch but Mirallas now remains a doubt for Saturdays game against Southampton. Everton are still missing Leighton Baines, Darron Gibson, Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert and Aiden McGeady because of injuries.
But winger Gerard Deulofeu and midfielder Muhamed Besic should be fit after missing out against Watford with hamstring problems.
Martinez said: “It was a very dangerous challenge and if you review the action, he was very fortunate to escape with no major injury.”
