Martinez confirms club missed out on 2 signings
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the club missed out on 2 signings in the summer as they look to pick up some outstanding talent from South America.
The cub did get the man they wanted in Leandro Rodriguez, but also missed out on 2 other young Uruguayan talents who went to Holland and Spain.
“We follow South American football from a distance and try to filter a lot of games, and Leandro was one of three promising Uruguayan youngsters. One went to PSV, Leandro came to us and another went to Spain. Those were the three talents we were following but it was the striker we wanted.”

They didn’t miss out at all. As Roberto said: “…it was the striker we wanted.” They only wanted the striker!
Re-read my comment mate! RM said he wanted an experienced no.10 playmaker & experienced striker ALL summer! AND NEVER GOT EITHER!!! That was my point! If they’d gone after Yarmolenko mid July and gave Kiev 2 weeks to say yes or no, they would have had time to get someone else if it was no from Kiev!
YES we missed out on a quality experienced striker and playmaker, BUT NOT ON KIDS, Leandro may come good, but we need guys who will make a difference straight away Roberto!!! Dries Mertens would be good, and Austin would have been excellent!!!!!
