Roberto Martinez has been singing the praises of new loanee Gerard Deulofeu, but says that the young Spaniard does have to learn alot too. Martinez said: “To say that Gerard is a talented boy is an understatement. He’s got incredible potential – that really raw talent that any fan wants to watch.
“We need to be a little bit patient because Gerard needs to adapt to a different way of playing, in a league with a different physicality, but that was always the plan; to give Gerard (below) a steady introduction.
“Slowly you’re going to see a player that’s going to develop, grow and give us some incredible memories at Everton I’m sure.”
The Catalan teenager is not short on confidence, and was happy to receive the number 10 shirt at Everton.
But Martinez is keen to underline that along with his supreme self-belief is a tremendous work-rate and desire to make an impact during his spell on Merseyside.
“He’s learning quickly,” added the Toffees manager. “He’s got a terrific attitude, and I’m extremely excited about that he will being to Everton.”
