    Martinez: Holgate is a very talented defender with a fantastic future at Everton

    Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been glowing in his praise of one of his summer signings, Mason Holgate and admits that the former Barnsley player has impressed since joining the club.

    Holgate joined Everton in a £1m deal in the summer and immediately impressed in an under 21’s match against Liverpool and Martinez feels he has settled well.

    “In the mini-derby, I felt that he was himself and I thought he showed what he can be.

    “But I always measure the personality of a young player when he starts his first week and it was terrific to see him walk into the dressing room and be able to be himself and train in the manner that he did.

    “He’s only 18, he’s a very talented defender and I can see a fantastic future for him at Everton.”

    1. I thought when he was at fault for the first goal he would worry but he actually got better and better ,I was really impressed with this lad , especially after reading his history .He seems to have the guts to achieve and that is good for us
